MANAGEMENT & TECHNICAL TEAM
Urban Robotics’ Executive Team and co-founders reflect the company’s blend of high-tech silicon-industry engineering and Department of Defense applications. They are:
William N. Peters
Mr. Peters has over forty-five years program management experience in the analysis, design, development, fabrication, testing, fielding and maintenance of complex sensor and laser systems, including the Hubble Space Telescope (Systems Engineer), airborne
laser weapons, portable laser designator and weapon systems, FLIR, and airborne reconnaissance and surveillance systems. His research and development accomplishments range from building the first space qualified laser, to being Technical Director and
Deputy Program Manager of fleets of aerostat ships and multi-engine aircraft.
Mark Leavy
Mr. Leavy’s broad versatility in engineering disciplines influences the entire Urban Robotics’ product base. His resume includes such diverse skills as: designing the real-time operating systems used in thousands of elevators today, developing cardiac HW and SW
monitoring solutions still in use 15 years later, inventing and architecting Intel Corporation’s 3D Audio RSX product, and developing a line of smart hi-tech toys for Intel and Mattel. His interests range from robotics control systems to Stirling engines to financial
quantitative algorithms. He has held the position of Chief Technologist in multiple companies and holds nine patents in digital signal processing and computer based media.
Geoffrey Peters
Mr. Peters is also an engineer by trade, with a Masters Degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. He has a history of entrepreneurial leadership and innovative product design. His software engineering experience includes speech recognition systems,
semantic computer vision algorithms, and heterogeneous distributed systems. Mr. Peters has managed teams and programs that include ethnographers, software and hardware engineers, and industrial designers. He holds 10 diverse patents and has been
recognized inside Intel for his management skills via the company’s highest individual achievement award. His engineering interests include wetware, mind-body software modeling, and cognitive data visualization.
As a Technical Team, the founding members of UR have combined their individual skills to design a complete sensor and processing system from first principles. Nearly every element of the system has been uniquely and optimally developed for the UR product
line: from the design of the aircraft vibration tolerant optical benches –to- camera control –to- dynamic memory management of terabyte file structures –to- real-time algorithm implementation –to- fabrication and software development of large cluster
processors –to- creation of internet compatible interfaces to simplify the external interfaces. The one element that has been intentionally kept as commercially procured is the sensor. The team holds over 20 patents between them.
Urban Robotics prides itself in attracting motivated and passionate engineers and operators. Knowing that we offer some of the most challenging and rewarding engineering positions available, we have recruited high octane individuals with proven track
records. Our extended technical team includes mechanical engineers, electrical software engineers, system engineers, and field operators.
